Terms & Conditions

These terms and conditions apply to all Portable Appliance Testing services provided by Burton PAT Testing across Worthing and West Sussex.

By booking our services, you agree to the terms outlined below.

    1. Scope of Services

Burton PAT Testing provides Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) services, including visual inspection, electrical testing, labelling, record keeping, and certification of portable electrical appliances in accordance with current UK guidance, including the IET Code of Practice for In-Service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment.

    2. Payment Terms

All invoices are payable within 7 days of the invoice date unless otherwise agreed in writing.
Payment may be made via bank transfer or cash.

Burton PAT Testing reserves the right to charge statutory interest and recovery costs on overdue invoices in line with the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998.

    3. Cancellation Policy

Cancellations must be made with a minimum of 48 hours’ notice.
Cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice may be subject to a £25 call-out fee to cover time and travel costs.

Where access is not available at the agreed appointment time, Burton PAT Testing reserves the right to apply a minimum charge to cover time and travel costs.

    4. Liability

While all reasonable care is taken during testing, Burton PAT Testing shall not be held responsible for:

    • Pre-existing faults

    • Internal appliance defects

    • Damage caused by normal operation or age-related wear

Appliances that fail testing must not be used and should be repaired or removed from service.

Burton PAT Testing’s liability shall be limited to the value of the testing service provided. We shall not be liable for indirect or consequential losses.

    5. Certification & Labelling

Appliances that pass testing will be clearly labelled, and a full digital test report and PAT certificate will be issued via email once payment has been received in full.

Failed appliances will be labelled with a fail warning label, and the client will be informed at the time of testing.

    6. Access Requirements

It is the client’s responsibility to ensure safe and reasonable access to all appliances to be tested at the agreed appointment time.

Appliances that are inaccessible will be excluded from testing and noted on the test report.
Where agreed with the client, a Class I visual-only or Class III inspection may be carried out and charged at the same rate as a standard PAT test.

Pricing is based on the number of appliances confirmed at the time of booking. Where additional appliances are presented on the day, Burton PAT Testing reserves the right to revise the final price in line with the applicable pricing band.

Additional visits or re-testing of missed or repaired items may be subject to further charges.
